A Midsummer Night's Dream (No Fear Shakespeare)
After reviewing and learning acting skills important to classical performance,
we will read through (on our feet) the two plays. We will also spend time reviewing
how other directors have approached these plays by watching different movie
versions and attending live performances when available. We will discover how
Shakespeare's plays have been applied to many different time periods and historical
situations, classes, races, ideas and themes.
We will then form two production teams, one for each play. These teams will agree
upon a time period, theme, location, etc for their respective play, determine which
scenes to focus on, and prepare for a final performance at the end of the semester.
Please note that the instructor reserves the right to vary from these guidelines.

In this course, you will learn and study Shakespeare as he meant it to be enjoyed - as
theatre. Shakespeare plays are scripts and we will treat them as such. We will
choose two Shakespeare plays to analyse, discuss, watch and perform.
