1) place picture in upper right hand corner of scanplate
2) Open Paint Shop Pro folder on desktop
3) Double click on paint Shop Pro 4
4) From the "File" menu choose "Acquire"
   This will launch the HP PictureScan Task Manager
5) Click on Scan
(could click on "Pictures" or "OCR/Text"
This will scan in a preview image of the picture
6) Crop, move, etc the scanned image as you see fit. When you are
happy with what you have, click on "Accept". This will scan in the
"official image" and load it into Paint Shop.

at this point you can edit the picture as you see fit.

7) Be sure to save it (File->Save) in one of the following formats:
BMP - OS/2 or Windows Bitmap
GIF - CompuServe
JPG - JPEG - JFIF Compliant (best choice)
Make sure you save it on your floppy disk.

When finished, shut down Paint Shop Pro and don't forget to grab your
picture from the scanner plate AND take your floppy out of the drive!
