The Department of Media and Communication at St. John Fisher College offers three degrees:

Each of the degrees offers the benefit of small classes and seminars taught by first-class faculty in a liberal arts environment, creating an enviroment where students learn writing and critical thinking along with the practical skills needed for a career in the media industry.

Our introductory mass communication course registers between 20 and 30 students and all other classes are limited to between 12 and 25 students. Students enjoy seminars and workshops—not large lectures—all four years at Fisher.

Our students complete practicums and internships with media companies in Rochester, New York City, and across the country.

On campus, students participate in the campus newspaper and cable access television station, as well as PRIMA, our student-run public relations firm.

Students also may participate in our Fisher in Los Angeles program, explore the media industry in London through a two-week intersession course, and choose from a variety of study abroad options.

Students have the option to combine the knowledge gained from coursework and out-of-classroom experiences to complete an independent senior project in video production, interactive media, journalism, advertising, photography, or public relations.
