Dr. Kathleen A. Broikou joined SJFC in January 2001 and currently is Director of the Literacy Program.  She provides leadership throughout the School of Education as the Literacy Program is integrated into all the teacher education programs and activities.

Dr. Broikou attend University of Albany at State University of New York where she earned her Ph. D. and M S. in Reading.  Her Ph. D/ was awarded in 1992.  Her B, S. in Psychology and Elementary Education was completed at Nazareth College, Rochester, New York.   She has had extensive experience at the graduate and undergraduate teaching levels and has also provided leadership in the areas of international studies and teacher education. Prior to coming to SJFC, Dr. Broikou served as Associate Dean of the College and faculty member at SUNY, Geneseo.

She has taught, published, and presented in the areas of reading, at-risk learners, teacher education, and special education.
