Equality of vectors

If two vectors are equal, then they must have the same magnitude and direction. It is relatively easy to show that this translates into the following statement: If two vectors, tex2html_wrap_inline677 and tex2html_wrap_inline679 in tex2html_wrap_inline539 are to be equal, they must be equal component by component. For example, if the vectors tex2html_wrap_inline683 and tex2html_wrap_inline685 are equal (ie. tex2html_wrap_inline687 ) then the following two statements must be true:

  1. tex2html_wrap_inline689
  2. tex2html_wrap_inline691
