Lesson Plan for incorporating Dragon NaturallySpeaking in a Classroom
Name: Ashley Wasson
Date: February 7, 2008
Topic: Spanish letter
Time: 1 hour
Grade: 6th
Objective: The purpose of this lesson is to have my students be able to speak Spanish and have them send a letter to a Spanish School in Mexico.
Materials: *
Spanish Dictionary
* Computer Lab for the students
* Dragon NaturallySpeaking software
* Microphone headphones
* Previously written out Spanish letter
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to have my students better their speaking comprehension in Spanish. I think it is a great idea to send our letters to another Spanish speaking country and hope that they return with letters answering the questions that the students asked. Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a great way to provide the students with the opportunity to develop their communication skills and feel confident enough to speak with natives.
Modifications: Students who are not able to type can easily benefit from this software. No typing is required. All the student has to do is speak into the microphone on the headset and the words are then displayed on the computer screen.
Procedure:
1. I will have the students sit at their own individual
computer
2. I will pass out the microphone headsets and have them put
them on their heads
3. I will instruct them to where the Dragon NaturallySpeaking
software is located and have them click to start the software
4. I will have them read their essays and when they are done
I will print them off to send to Mexico.
Assessments: Before I send the letters to Mexico, I will grade their essays on accuracy and completion. I want my students to be able to learn Spanish all the while using this wonderful software.
