Lesson Plan for incorporating iSight into a classroom

Date: January 31, 2008
Grade: K-4
Topic: Communication
Time: 1 hour

Objective: I would like my students to be able to communicate with a group of students in another state. I want them to be able to ask questions and get to know the students that they are talking to. This is a great opportunity that not many students get to have.

Materials:
    * iSight
    * Computer
    * Projection Screen
    * Questions that the students already wrote up

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to have my students experience a different type of technology instead of the usual overhead projector or worksheets. I think they will enjoy speaking with other kids their age and be amazed that they can speak to them right from their classroom.

Modifications: Student's who need visual stimulation to learn will benefit from this type of lesson. Also students who have difficulty learning through hands-on or lecture will also benefit from this type of lesson as well.

Procedure:
    1. I will have my students sit in a circle on the rug facing the camera
    2. I will connect online with a classroom from a different state
    3. I will have the classroom introduce themselves and discuss where they are and what they are learning about
    4. Next, I will have my class introduce themselves and have them ask any questions that they may have for their online buddies

Assessment: I want my students to learn that anything is possible and that there is a growing world out there full of different and "cool" technology. I hope they are able to ask many questions and get good answers about how different their classroom is from their online buddies classroom.
