If you feel an earthquake in the pacific coast area, turn on your batter-powered radio to learn if there is a possible tsunami warning, and if they say to evacuate, do this immediately. You should have an evacuation plan already set.
A small tsunami at one beach can be a giant wave a few miles away. Do not let the small size of one wave make you forget how dangerous tsunami's are. The next wave could be bigger. Get away from the shoreline right away. When you see a tsunami it is too late to escape.
If you are able to see the wave coming towards you, you are too close to escape
If you are aware a wave is coming, move inland and get to higher ground
Stay away from flooded or damaged areas
Stay away from debris in the water
