Primary Function:
You are able to talk to the computer and it computes what you are saying to words on any windows based operation.

Training:

There is a training session that is used so the computer is able to recognize your voice. It is supposed to typically take about five minutes.

Cost:
$400-$700
Justification:
This product is very slow and unresponsive and creates many aggravations. By the time it understands what you wanted it to do you could have typed it out yourself. It can be a great product if the kinks are worked out.

Testimonial:
Hello everyone. I have a question about Dragon Naturally Speaking 7.0 or 7.3 and I was hoping that somebody in this forum could help me . I have a problem with the dictation slowing down to a very slow pace after a certain amount of time. I have upgraded the product to 7.3. And used the acoustic optimizer to enhance the user files. I've uninstalled the application several times and reinstalled and retrained but it starts out well after each installation, but the more training I give the application the slower the results box displays the words before transferring them to Wordpad or Dragonpad. In the end it (the results box) becomes very large and full with text and slows down totally and freezes for 30 seconds at a time or more before transferring the text and then finally freezes. First Hand Impression:
This product could not keep up to my voice. It can not recognize my voice most of the time, I would say a word and it would not hear or understand me. The headphones are very uncomfortable. Great idea, poorly executed software.

Criteria Excellent Good Poor Reason
Cost . . This product is very expensive and is not worth the money.
User Friendly   . . I thought it was very difficult to use. Needs guidance for setup and was very frustrating.
Portability . . The headphones can be brought anywhere but you need the software installed or available on the computer.
