Skinput System
Skinput System
By: Microsoft (Collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University)
Release: Anywhere from 2 to 7 years for commerical use
Cost: Unknown
Primary Function
A device that uses pico projector technology to display a screen on your
palm or forearm. It enlarges what would normally be a smaller visual area. The
Skinput uses the sounds that are emitted when various body parts are touched to
recognize which icon/key/menu was tapped.
Expected Reliability
Currently 95.5% accuracy with the five button system. This accuracy is
similar to many other touchscreens currently available.
First Hand Impression
This would be a great tool for anyone who has trouble seeing small
print or anyone who has trouble touching small buttons.
