Data Files for Examples, Explorations and Problems

During the course, you will be analyzing and exploring many data files to look for patterns to help explain and understand the situations from which the data was collected. The .XLSX files can be downloaded in three different ways.

Unit Memos

Each unit has a separate memo that ties together concepts from all of the chapters in the unit. These memos all relate to the same problem context – a shipping company named StateEx. Memos 2 and 3 use this data file: StatEx_Deliveries.

Chapter Memos and Rubrics

There is a new version of the memo for chapter 15 related to interest rates and amortization of loans. The memo is available for download here.

Your work on each of the memo assignments at the end of the chapters is assessed for three areas: Mechanics and Techniques, Application and Reasoning, and Communication and Professionalism. (These areas are described in the preface to the text and the sample syllabus above.) The rubrics below show the specific items in each area for each memo that your instructor will be looking for. Not all memos in the text have rubrics associated to them at present.
